Sarah Mueller

Sarah Mueller is a cinephile, lifelong learner, and proud 23-year resident of Philadelphia. She is the Founder and Executive Director of cinéSPEAK, a Philadelphia-based arthouse cinema and journal dedicated to cultivating transformative film experiences and opportunities for both filmmakers and moviegoers. Since its founding in 2013, cinéSPEAK has premiered award-winning films while celebrating and strengthening local community and global movements for collective liberation.
Deeply rooted in Philadelphia’s independent media landscape, Sarah has also worked with some of the city’s most respected institutions. She was an assistant producer on Scribe Video Center’s Street Movies! (2006-2012), served as core operations staff with BlackStar Film Festival (2013-2018), and produced special projects for PhillyCAM (2019-2022). She additionally served as the local producer for Doc Society’s Good Pitch Local Philadelphia in 2020 and 2021, supporting filmmakers in bringing vital documentary projects to life.
At the core of Sarah’s work is a belief that access to authentic and diverse storytelling is a fundamental human right. She advocates for the abolition of carceral systems and embraces film as a powerful medium to dismantle colonialism and white supremacy, moving us closer to a just, empathetic, and equitable world.
