In Process
In Process is an event series that offers intimate space for local filmmakers to share about their creative process. These salon-style events are opportunities for makers and audiences to delve deep into their craft through dialogue, workshops, lectures, and screenings–tailored to each particular filmmaker’s desire. In Process chats inspire and educate both emerging and experienced makers by engaging in hands-on learning, collaboration, and experimentation. These events are as serious as they are light-hearted, fun, awe-inspiring and down to earth. Usually low-cost, the In Process series is a small, uniquely intimate space for immersive learning and experimentation. At the end of the event, we give artists a bouquet of flowers to literally and metaphorically give them the recognition they deserve.
Past In Process events include conversations with award-winning filmmakers and filmmaking collectives The Philadelphia Animation Ensemble, Anula Shetty, Tshay, Taj DeVore-Bey, and Ingrid Raphaël.

Cybee is an animator, storyteller, and ecologist, and member of the Philadelphia Animation Ensemble.
“Thank you so much, cinéSPEAK and Making Worlds for doing this with us. It was such a delight! Better than I can have imagined! The folks who came were super engaged and interested in animation, and there were several folks whom I’d never met who are professional and hobbyist animators who now want to join the ensemble. Very grateful to Shenid for hosting us, Vernon for orienting everyone, Stephanie and Kami for taking care of us and the space, Dan for running tech, and Sarah for all the planning and coordination.”
Ingrid Raphaël is a transdisciplinary artist, filmmaker and educator.
“In-Process provided space to introduce my process and works-in-progress to local enthusiasts in film and make connections with my practice as a storyteller and producer. Since then, I occasionally run into folks who attended and ask me about updates on my projects: a sign of the reverberating ecosystems that were ignited and continue to be cultivated. Attending other In-Process salons were also an opportunity to get acquainted with the works of fellow filmmakers and practitioners whose practices inspired my own. With film as an inherent collaborative effort, this series has impacted me by reaching folks I wouldn’t have otherwise and whom I could call on to support fundraising efforts, collaborate in creative production, or provide local resources for my films.”
Tshay is a Philly-based filmmaker from Amityville, NY. Tshay creates stories and builds whimsical worlds across fiction, documentary, and hybrid film.
I was invited to do an In Process chat with cinéSPEAK at a time when I was developing language for myself and my craft, and preparing to share that language with my community. It [In Process] provided me a platform to talk about my creative efforts and expressions in a supportive and encouraging environment — one that is rarely afforded to emerging artists. As I continue to deepen my practice and public engagement, I am grateful to cinéSPEAK for recognizing the need that all artists have, which is to connect with those who are in our orbit as we make our precious work.”
